The working world of today and the business organizations in it are constantly faced with sudden changes like increases in competitions, changes in digital technology, shrinking product life cycles and rapidly evolving customer interests.  It is essential therefore for everyone to be prepared to deal with all of these changes and it is not just about empowering, but also about increasing the speed that organizations, including companies that conduct recruitment in Thailand, need to manage these changes effectively and to their own benefit.

What is agile?

Agile is the ability to adapt or respond to changing needs of customers, employees and the marketplace in a speedy effective manner.  In a business context, agility is all about being able to manage and grow a business by adapting to changes rapidly.  It is a process that helps organizations work faster and more efficiently.

  • Agile is not best suited for every organization

Some products, companies, and teams can’t work effectively within agile frameworks.  Agile is a working concept that encourages individuals and organizations to communicate consistently with the courage to try new things, even if they are still not sure and expect a lot of changes.  But it allows everybody to take risks and at the same time allows possibilities to try and learn from results.  The agile concept may sound good and encourage people to work to create new innovations, but if HR wants to apply it, it’s better to consider other factors too because agile methodology doesn’t fit all businesses and it’s not always suitable for every project.

  • Encourage an agile work culture

An important part of an agile work culture is increasing flexibility and communication in order to adapt to the changing needs of your employees, in which HR needs to create a culture in the organization or in the team to facilitate the use of the agile concept effectively and make sure the agile culture is a good fit for the organization model and values.  The following are some guidelines that may help you to improve business outcomes: –

  • Respect each other’s individuality
  • Openness to feedback and learning
  • Encourage team communication
  • Create a flexible work environment
  • Build trust in the workplace
  • Find resources with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ensure work life balance

Using these guidelines, you will be able to adapt to changes in your environment and leverage the energy of your employees to improve business outcomes.

Although the concept of an agile workforce is another option for organizations that need to work align with the changing world, organizations can achieve agility by changing their workforce strategy, processes, and technology.  But organization can’t be agile without changing the way people work and interact daily.  Agile enables organizations to adapt faster and more effectively to rapid changes.  The adaptation of an agile workforce model will provide an advantage to organizations in the years ahead.  Businesses need to simultaneously work on agile and on the behaviors and mindsets that will make change sustainable.
